Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):

HOME HELPERS ORGANIZATION

Why should I choose Home Helpers?

Home Helpers helps you maintain your independence whether you are a Senior, New Mom or Working Parent, recuperating from illness or injury or facing life-long challenges. We work with you to determine the best match and appropriate care plan. Our Caregivers are reliable professionals who have been thoroughly screened, formally oriented to individual client needs, bonded and insured.

Quite simply, Home Helpers is the right choice for individuals looking for trusted, affordable and courteous service specializing in non-medical, in-home care and companionship, and providing assistance with daily living activities.

How is Home Helpers different from other organizations?

For Home Helpers, it’s all about relationships. We start each prospective client engagement with a face-to-face meeting in the client’s home to understand the situation, environment, the client’s needs and expectations. Many other organizations simply assign the next available person and ask that they show up at a specified time.

After the initial consultation, we determine what we believe would be the best Caregiver/client match, and appropriately prepare and coach the Caregiver to ensure a good fit. We then set-up an in-home introduction with the client (and often the client’s family) prior to committing the Caregiver. The purpose of the introduction is to be sure that the Caregiver and client are a good match and to give each person the chance to become comfortable with each other.

We find that our no-obligation, FREE in-home consultation makes a big difference in forming a good working relationship. We strive to foster a loving, caring, stable and lasting relationship between our clients and the Home Helpers staff assigned to them … it all starts with the way we treat our clients and our employees ... like family.

HOME HELPERS SERVICES

Why should I use Home Helpers instead of hiring a Caregiver direct?

Using Home Helpers for personal care services allows you to shift the responsibility of Caregiver selection, training and management to us. For example, you will not need to worry about:

What to do if the Caregiver is sick or on vacation.
If you are ready, willing and able to handle all the employment issues such as filing with the State Bureau of Employment Services, handle workers compensation, benefits and taxes.
Your availability to oversee, monitor and coach caregivers to ensure the best possible experience and provide ongoing professional development.
Potential liability exposure to you and your family.
Caregiving is our passion and our business. This is what we do best. We work to ensure each client receives the level of care, support and understanding he or she deserves and expects.

Are your services limited to Seniors?

No, we also provide services to New Mom and Working Parents and those recuperating from an illness or injuries, and people requiring continuing care. While the specific situations and client needs can vary, we find that the overall care is quite similar.

Can I contract for your services from a remote location as I live in a different city than the person needing care?

Yes, we frequently are engaged by out-of-town relatives or close friends to care for a loved one who does not live in the same city. We follow the same process for reviewing care needs and developing a tailored care plan which, in this type of circumstance, would include the best method of communicating with out-of-town parties.

Are your services available in retirement communities, assisted living facilities or nursing homes?

Yes, our services assist people that require and desire assistance with daily activities, and can be provided anywhere a client needs them…in their home, in the hospital, rehabilitation center, nursing home, retirement community, etc.

Does Home Helpers provide services that can help even with the most basic of activities of daily living for me personally and for keeping up my residence?

Yes, we can provide services to support your needs in the area of activities of daily living and also offer you a full range of residence services including light housekeeping, laundry, ironing, organizing and tidying of your residence. We do not offer maid services, home repair or landscape services but we can work with you to coordinate such services from others to fit your needs and make certain they are done to your satisfaction.

HOME HELPERS CAREGIVERS

What makes Home Helpers Caregivers different?

Our Caregivers are often people who, as a result of personal experiences with their loved ones, are looking to give back to others. Our caregivers are members of the local community and come from all walks of life. What makes them similar is that they are looking for an opportunity to serve others. We refer to our caregivers as ‘Compassionate Caregivers.’ We look to employ people who are good people themselves and are passionate about what they do.

How is your staff of Caregivers selected?

Our Caregivers are reliable professionals who have been thoroughly screened, formally oriented to individual client needs, bonded and insured. As part of Home Helpers rigorous selection process, we thoroughly screen each of our caregivers and make sure they have the essential skills to be successful. We perform thorough background checks looking at felony and misdemeanor conviction history, driving records, reference checks & previous employment verification.

How do you prepare your employees for a new assignment?

Home Helpers’ Caregivers are introduced and oriented to each client's individual needs, ways and habits so that client is treated the way they are accustomed to being treated, not the way someone else thinks it should be done.

We match Caregivers that already have the necessary skills and experiences with specific clients and then mentor and coach them to be oriented to a client’s way of living. We do not look to place inexperienced Caregivers with clients. Additionally, we coach Caregivers on a client’s specific care needs and how to best respond to various situations, should they arise.

Who pays the Caregiver? Do I pay them and you separately?

Home Helpers administers all the billing, payroll, employee / employer taxes, workers compensations and liability insurance, bonding and administrative / scheduling responsibilities. Clients do not have to worry about paying extra taxes, reporting employment information to local, state and federal agencies or even immigration issues. We take care of all of this for you as every Caregiver put on assignment by Home Helpers is required to be an employee of our office and not a subcontractor or independent operator. We minimize your personal and family risks.
